Platinum is a noble metal hence we used platinum as an anode in electrolysis process. Platinum is used in electrochemical cells because it is resistant to oxidation- it will not easily react, which makes in excellent as an electrode. Platinized anodes can be operated at very high current densities. 100 Amperes per square foot are typical. All of the current flows from the platinum coated portion of the anode surface. However, if this coating is damaged, current may also flow from the substrate material resulting in its premature failure. The primary limitation of platinized anodes is that the oxide film on the substrate can break down if excessive anode-to-electrolyte voltages are encountered. The practical limit for platinized titanium is 12 volts. Platinized niobium can be used at potentials as high as 100 volts.

Features of Platinized Titanium Mesh Anode for Electrolysis:

1. High corrosion resistance

2. High current efficiency

3. Long working life

4. After the electrode is deactivated, the matrix can be repeated

5. High current density and high production efficiency

6. Light weight of Anode

Platinum Plating Technology: In the manufacture of most platinum electroplated titanium, the titanium is first chemically etched to form a surface with reentrant angles – to aid the mechanical adhesion of subsequently applied coatings. Even this simple process of chemical roughening has involved much development.
