What is Electrodialysis:-

The electro-dialysis process is a combination of electrochemical process and dialysis diffusion process. Driven by an external DC electric field, the anion and cation move to the anode (Pt Anode). Cathode (Pt Cathode) respectively via the selective permeability of the ion exchange membrane. The cation will pass through the cation exchange membrane and the anion will pass through the anion exchange membrane. In the process of ion migration, if the fixed charge of the membrane is opposite to the charge of the ion. The ion will pass through; if their charges are the same, the ion is rejected, so achieves the diluted solution, concentrated solution, and purified solution.

Tiaano manufacturing different sizes and Shapes of platinised Titanium Electrodes for water ionizers. A water ionizer works on the simple principle of electrolysis. Any type of water ionizer has two electrodes put into a container having two chambers separated by a membrane. The two electrodes - positive and negative, are put into two separate chambers and the current is passed through them. Ionization process takes place on passing of the current through the electrodes.

The dissolved minerals get attracted either to the positive or negative electrode. One of the chambers will have acidic water while the other will have alkaline water. The alkaline water is for drinking purpose, whereas the acidic water is for disinfecting or sterilizing purposes.

Most worthy ionizers on the market use Anodes and cathodes made of platinum plated or coated titanium. Titanium will not dissolve in your ionized water. The ionizer uses grade 1 titanium (as per ASTM Standard) electrodes to be plated with a good electrical conductor. Stainless steel was used for Water Ionizer electrodes in the late 1980's. It was found not be a suitable material because they did not last more than a few months.

Water Ionization Electrode

Platinum Plated Titanium Anode and Platinum Plated Titanium cathode (Positive Anode and Negative Anode. The Platinum Plated Titanium electrodes create the ionization, the electrode cell is the heart of an ionizer. It consists of a series of electrodes, each separated by a semi permeable membrane. The Platinized Titanium Mesh Anode is mostly used. Because it has outstanding practical performance, such as strong ability of ionization release, good exchange of electrolyte.

Alkaline Water, which comes out of the top spout on the ionizer, is the fraction that we drink and cook with.  It contains a high concentration of positively charged minerals that are beneficial for our health, such as calcium, potassium, and magnesium.

They have successfully replaced lead anodes in electroplating applications. Due to their excellent electrochemical characteristics, lower consumption, dimensional accuracy, and ability to form precise deposit thicknesses on desired geometric shapes. These anodes can be designed and formed with various geometries based upon the parts to be electroplated.

Advantages of Platinised Niobium Anode:-

Platinized Niobium has a much higher over potential than platinized titanium. It is the key contributor to its superior performance compared with titanium substrate anodes. This property allows the anode to operate at higher voltages and higher current densities and not be affected by the more basic plating baths. The niobium substrate is decidedly more tolerant of free fluorides formed at the anode. Plating baths utilize an ammonium fluoride as an additive. This source of free fluorides attacks titanium substrate anodes rapidly. The effective life of a platinum niobium anode is always much longer and more predictable than that of titanium substrate anodes.

Water Deionizer Electrodes [Anodes or Cathodes] are available with hanging hook, frame or band in the form of sheet, expanded mesh, pipe, rod and custom size.  Deionized water is also called demineralized water. The majority of water impurities are dissolved salts, deionization results in high purity water that is generally similar to distilled water.

Ions are electrically charged atoms or molecules found in water that have either a net negative or positive charge. For many applications that use water as a rinse or ingredient, these ions are considered impurities and must be removed from the water.

Water Deionization Process:-

Among all common water filtration methods, the process used for removal of all dissolved salts from water is referred to as deionization. Deionization requires the flow of water through two ion exchange materials in order to affect the removal of all salt content.
